Princess Margaret Rose returned to steam in 1990 and ran on the mainline until being withdrawn and returned to West Shed in 1996.
In order to return her to steam again, a major overhul is required. This could and would cost an estimated £750,000 minimum. Therefore sadly West Shed have no plans to overhual PMR at the moment. The main reson for this is the huge cost involved in overhualing her.
Another reson for not overhualing her is that whilst they have 'Duchess Of Sutherland' running on the mainline earning revinue to keep her going, it would not be economically viable for the trust to run and maintain two large locomotives simultaneously (or indeed in terms of manpower requiered for operation and maintenance ).
